ISSUE 8

I’m looking forward to expanding Pure Formes. As I mentioned in my note, it not only encompasses wardrobe staples but the best in beauty, wellness, literature and home. It’s more than style, it’s a lifestyle. This month’s moodboard features Isabella Rosselini, sculptures from the Japanese artist Kazunori Hamana, Miuccia Prada and a painting by Lucien Freud of his daughter Bella. All of the images give me an excitement at the moment.

The Essentials

This past season I focused on upgrading the knitwear in my wardrobe. It was something I wore constantly but never invested in the right styles and colors. I love Casasola’s new collection of everyday shapes. I’m craving a palette cleaner for spring.

I’m a makeup minimalist but I love searching for new products that out perform what I already have while still using clean ingredients. Victoria Beckham has become a favorite of mine and her mascara never flakes. It gives a very natural effect and lasts all day.

There’s nothing like a luxurious notebook to keep you motivated. My friend Ashley turned me onto Pineider, which are handmade in Florence. It keeps my ideas organized whether I’m at my desk or on the run. I typically buy “Pineider” green but next time will try the wine color.

The Discoveries

I’m always trying new products and this mascara is my favorite. I also love their other mascara but this is more fluid and natural.

I love reading non-fiction books on strong female characters. I’m still working my way through but it’s an incredible story.

These are the coziest (and chicest) cotton leggings for lounging or wearing under an oversized knit.

THE LOOK

I recently tried Jeanerica's Belem jean after looking for the perfect slouchy denim. It's not easy to find the right amount of slouch that still looks flattering. The sizing runs large - if you are in between sizes order your smaller size.

HOW TO WEAR IT …

The wide-leg denim from Jeanerica gives this uniform look an updated twist. If you prefer a straight leg fit I also love this style from Tove. Add a cashmere knit around your shoulders from Salie 66 (they are luxurious and incredibly well made). And instead of gold necklaces, pearls feel fresh this season especially from Sophie Buhai's new collection. I also like this verson from Monica Vinader. The embossed croc loafers in espresso ground the look and will work with many other closet staples.

THE DESTINATION:

TINA BARNEY AT THE JEU DE PAUME

Since 1975, American photographer Tina Barney has captured the inner lives of subjects within their homes. She magnifies the textures and colors of her subjects’ clothes, furniture and surroundings, highlighting the habits that inform their behaviors. Her images have always been an inspiration to me and I’ll be visiting her latest show at the Jeu de Paume in Paris soon.
